Internal Cementitious Tanking Basement Waterproofing System

Waterproofing a basement using an internally applied cementitious waterproofing slurry such as Vandex BB75 is often referred to as tanking.

This approach is commonly used when refurbishing existing basements (basement refurbishment). However it may also be used for waterproofing newbuild basements when access to the external wall of the basement is difficult (e.g. due to the close proximity of neighbouring buildings). Internal application of waterproofing slurries also has the advantage of providing easier access for maintenance when compared with the more traditional approach of applying a physical barrier to the external face of the basement wall.

Where the basement structure comprises of reinforced concrete Vandex Super provides an extremely cost-effective solution for internal basement tanking due to its high coverage rate. For other types of basement structure (e.g. blockwork) other products from the Vandex cementitious waterproofing range should be used – please contact our technical department for guidance.
